All Black Everything

The weather has finally been warming up here in Ohio (it's now a whole 40 degrees!). So I was able to take a few picture yesterday.  It was warm enough to wear just shorts and tights and a leather jacket so I took advantage. This whole look was created at Forever 21 and H&M.

New York Fashion Week Highlights F/W 2014 [part 1]

The weather here in Ohio has been pretty extreme lately. I can't even remember the last time the temperature was above freezing! So it's been pretty much impossible to get any outfit pictures taken. I keep wearing cute outfits in hopes of some tamer weather! But lately, I really don't want to be outside longer than necessary.

So I've been spending my extra free time keeping up with New York Fashion Week. So here are some of my highlights thus far, and I'll continue to post more throughout the week.

Charlotte Ronson

She captured the modern, stylish New York City girl in such a badass and feminine way.

The Style: Edgy pieces mixed with feminine classics
The Models: Fresh, rosy lipstick and blush with minimal eye makeup
What Stands Out: Midi skirts and black socks paired with black heels

Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan

This fairly new designer put out dark high fashion ready-to-wear pieces with lavender accents throughout the collection.

The Style: Mixed dark fabrics and patterns make this collection interesting and edgy
The Models: Heavy eye makeup with lavender hair accents
What Stands Out: The unique way pieces from sheer button up blouses were incorporated into her designs. And all those fabulous combat boots!

Hache

This unusual collection consists of unexpectedly paired pieces that create a 60s mod inspired look with a grunge edge

The Style: Neutrals paired with bold eclectic pieces
The Models: Undone in the perfect way with dark eye makeup and tousled hair
What Stands Out: Tailored pieces, plaid, faux furs, and striped socks

Color Blocking

I'm always looking for new and interesting places to take outfit photos and I thought this old building near my school would be a perfect opportunity to show off my new color blocked coat from SheInside. To keep the coat as the statement piece I paired it with black neutral pieces.

Plaid Monster

So glad the weather has gotten better so I can start taking outfit pictures outside again.  During that time I was able to do some after Christmas shopping and I picked up this sweatshirt and plaid pants at Forever 21. I also just started my next semester this week so this will give me a lot of opportunities and locations to take more outfit photos.

UNIF Trench Boots

Couldn't wait to wear these UNIF high trench boots after I received them for Christmas. I love that they make me taller without being heels. They're definitely eye catchers! Here I paired them with one of my favorite pairs of leggings that I found at a local beauty surplus store for only $14. They feature the names of fashion capitals around the world.

Leather and Lace

I love this oversized sweater I found recently at my local thrift store. It's really versatile and can be dressed up or down. I really enjoy the contrast created here by pairing it with edgy leather pieces.

Thrifting tips to achieve this look: Make sure to check ALL sections when thrifting. Oversized sweaters and shirts can be paired with tights and worn as dresses.

It's a Plaid Plaid Plaid Plaid World

Big Trend for Fall: Plaid. I usually wear this plaid skirt in an "edgier" way but today I challenged myself to make it more girly. So I inspired this outfit by the classic school girl look by pairing it with a white blouse that I got thrifting and a blazer from H&M. (Unfortunately it was way too cold to take pictures in just the blazer.) To make the look more personalized, I added a red necklace and earrings and a leather jacket.

London Dungeon

A classic look: skinny jeans and a leather jacket. Change it up by adding patterned pants, like these striped ones from UrbanOG. I love these because I have a slight [huge] obsession with Beetlejuice. I paired this "London" t-shirt with it to balance the white and the black and complete the look.
